I use to live in Germany and loved driving/ridding on autobahn.
The system is a bit diferrent.
Someone mentioned before that we had to pas rigorous writing test and driving test, which is true.
They don't give you driving licence if you don't pass.
So, that means more carefull and skilfull drivers and a lot less accidents on the autobahn.
It's same things for the motorcycles.
I use to drive almost everyday for 4 years on autobahn for about 65KM each way to work and back home, which wasn't so bad. Sometime when in hurry, can make this really fast.
If you make few mistakes and/or if you are so stupid to drink and drive, they will take your driving licence for good, so you are screwed up, and you have to go to take the "Idioten test", which you will not pass.
The law is more strict in Germany than here in US.
ON autobahn, you can drive if it's clear, so fast how can your car/motorcycle handle it.
I use to drive BMW 525i Alpina few times over 245 KMH and have ridden motorcycle ( I haven't ride bike with that speed - was sitting behind a friend) over 260 KMH.
Seems like too many rules for my taste. Too many rules makes driving boring. Most people use cars to get from A to B, but I would like some fun while doing it.
