Get yourself a target 22 and practice....your patterns will tighten up after a while. Alternatively, very high quality air pistols are more expensive but quieter... might be a good option if you have difficulty getting out to the range.

I like the Mk II comp. target bull barrels if you have the upper body strength to hold them. You might be happier with the Mk III 22/45 which has a more "conventional" grip angle. Most people think the browning angle is more comfortable though I've always been fond of the luger/MkII angle.
Ride it like you think owning it matters.

i saw a .22 conversion kit for kimber.

it's too much money though. i'd rather spend it on the bike.

my errors are still pretty much squeezing the trigger.

also, i tried double tapping on 1 magazine... it was so bad... i totally missed all my 2nd shots.

and also, im still shooting w/ my right hand... i should practice left hand since my shooting eye is my left eye.

plus, i can still use the throttle.

Conversion kits are OK if they are accurate. The target 22s... well, a good marksman w/ a halfway decent 22 will lay one hit on top of the other at those ranges leaving only one ragged hole in the paper. The advantage is you know all the inaccuracy is yours, and any spread is something to avoid. Inaccurate firearms introduce noise (pattern spread) which makes it harder to learn.

I've spent all my life shooting at one thing or another. Yay for livin in the boonies! I have to say my favorite gun is my little bolt-action 22 mag.

second favorite would have to be this little darling Mosin Nagant Getting kind of hard to find cartridges for it though. Think i might take it apart, do some extensive restoration work and make it a mantlepiece sitter.

Shame though. it shoots flat.

unfortunately the brass i have from my older shots are in bad shape. Think they were actually ww2 vintage.

cracks, weird oxidations. i don't trust em. And the old ammo was corrosive type. Which makes me kind of leery too. Would hate to overcharge the old dear. :(

But it fires 7.62x54r rounds. And the rifles themselves used to go for a song. think i picked mine up for about 65$ he he he. When i was 13 no less.
First yellow tip in from the left is what i picked up the day i bought the rifle. got a few left..namely the ones with dents/loose shells/cracks in the casings.

And if importing large quantities of Czech ammo doesnt bother your neighbors Bang Course its corrosive type, so if you do manage to pick one up in decent shape, make Dang sure you clean the crap out of it after you get done slinging lead downrange.

the M44 itself is a heavy clunky Monster. mine was listed as weiging 9.4 lbs i think it was. Solid metal buttplate. Big honkin leather punch type bayonet built into the thing. 5rd capacity. Bolt alone weighs at least a pound, and looks like it was machined from a piece of plate iron.

I'll try to find a decent camera and do some pic takin :D Sorry for hi-jackin your blog verm. But i live in WV. It should be understood that i can't resist firearms.

no problem... i love firearms too but i don't have anything else.

i would like to have a sniper rifle and a smith & wesson .357 or .44 w/ 8" barrel magnum in the future.

sniper rifle? like what kind? That's kinda like saying "id like to have a car". There are all sorts if different makes and model of rifles that could be onsidered "sniper rifles". None of which really have any practical use.

If you really want to have a blast (literally), and keep it on the cheaper side, get yourself a Ruger 10/22 , a nice scope, a bunch of cheap ammo and go to town. You can get some neat looking aftermarket stocks for them, and it wont cost a fortune to spend the day shooting, unlike your 45. the only drawback is that its harder to hold it in one hand and shoot it sidways.

i used to have one years ago and i regret selling it. I've had a bunch of weapons, such as SKS's, the 10/22, a Sig 40 Cal, a bunch of 22 handguns, a german wwII mauser with weirmach markings on it, a Springfield 1903, and a bunch of other crap. I just kinda lost interested. The only thing I have left is a POS Turkich Mauser long rifle that sits over a fireplace. I dont need guns anymore because a good friend of mine has a rediculous amount of handguns/machinegunes, rifles, of all makes and vintages. Whenever I want to shoot I just go borrow one of his :)

the Nagant uses the 7.762 doesn't it? How are those becomming hard to find? Its a nice gun, its no M1 but its a nice rifle. I wouldn't mind owning one myself.

As for VX and his shooting, not to shabby if you havent shot in 2 years, what the range? And why would you throw money and tinker with a gun with a conversion kit, just take 100-150 and buy a small little semi auto .22 amo is cheaper, gun is easyer to take care of and will help you improve your pistoleering skills without lots of cash for .45 ammo. :)

7.62x54r

i suppose a standard 7.62x54 shell would do the trick.....

Then again im not sure i want to fiddle around with do the trick on a gun that has 1944 stamped on it :D

/shrug. at any rate, when i Did live in the boonies and could do some noisemakin it was a fun accurate Heavy thing, But i've got plenty of other things to make noise with.... and i would rather do the archery bit these days to be honest. Quiet is the word of the day with me lately.

So many hobbies..so little money.

+1 on the 22's though. you can get some serious accuracy out of the small cal guns. And of course. tin can murdering..... what could be better? http://www.waltheramerica.com/firearms/p22.cfm If i was still somewhere that i could just wander around and plink, i would have one of those.
