Motorcycle Road Test in NY???

#1 Unread post by BBLineBacker81 »

I was just wondering if anyone here as taken the motorcycle road test in NY and if so what it all entails? I would like to make sure that I am ready for it although I heard it is really easy and basic. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou and have a great day.

Motorcycle Road Test in NY???

I took the road test 3-4 yrs ago and to my knowlege they have not changed anything. From what i remember you have to do 3 circles left, 3 circles right and 3 figure 8's. You have to be smooth with this so get some practice. You are also evaluated on stopping and taking off. The best thing to do is find some one near you that has taken it and have them watch you while doing this and tell you what your doing wrong. The biggest thing with the road test is pretent your out for a ride. Don't think about the guy/girl behind you watching your every move. At the begining of the test the guy/girl giving the test will give you instructions on where and what to do. Another good idea is go to the location where they course is being held ( many are in the same are as the car road test ) and get used to the area, "get to know" the roads. other than that all i can say is practice, practice, practice

PS. Have you read the book that you get at the DMV??? if not you should read all of it, i found it to be a great help

just out of curiosity, wouldnt some of the test be in regular traffic like a car road test? or is it all in an enclosed area instead.

A portion of the 'road test' was on an actual road when I took it in Buffalo in 1989 but things may have changed since then!
