This scares me if only because I now see a third accident in your near future. And it's destined to be high speed. Just based on the story, and previous ones, you're acting without thinking, and spending more time then not in over your head. When things go wrong, and they're going to... it's going to hurt a lot. I hope you're wearing your gear when it happens.

every time I ride, just around town or on a trip, there will be somebody that wants to act stupid. The people following too close is what happens most for me. I can be going over the speed limit and I will still have a rig right on my back tire. I can speed up and they'll still be right there on my a$$. I guess they think that since you are on a motorcycle they can do that.

I have also survived a crash where the famous words where from the person that pulled out in front me "I didn't see you".........

Every time I ride an remember the crash. I am constantly looking for the idiots and looking for an alternative course of action for any situation. If you do not ride defensively you are going to get hurt. There are more idiots out there than ever before and they don't care.

Just be careful and be safe. And remember that anything else out there on the road is bigger then you are and you will loose if they decide to hit you........good luck.

you guys have a good point....i'm on a bike and hes in a cage so he can run me off the road easily....but other than that.

1. it wasn't a school day, no kids on sight...just parents/adults (i think)
2. didn't look like he was going to move as he was there for a looong time....i spotted him from the other end of the street.

but the fact that i should have been expecting it is true.....i guess i wasn't paranoid enough.

Making an asssumption about what the cage is going to do is a huge mistake. I think it's fair to say that in 90% of cage/motorcycle accidents the motorcyclist can say, "I didn't think he was going to do that". That doesn't make them any less bruised. Been there, done that.

If you want to avoid these kinds of situations, you need to change your mindset. When someone is stopped in the middle of the road for awhile, the safest bet is to assume that they are lost, or having some other difficulty that will cause them to pay less attention to what is going on around them.

Where I ride, it's not unusual to see someone stopped in the middle of the road for no apparent reason. Sometimes the cager is waiting for someone to come out of a nearby building. Sometimes they're contemplating a U-turn. Sometimes they're about to throw it in reverse and back into a parking spot or a driveway. The only way to deal with this is to slow down and wait for the cage to do it's thing. If it's still just sitting there as you approach at 5-10 mph, you can move slowly to the left and go around. If you see him start to make a move, you are both going slow enough to stop or tap the horn to avoid a collision.

Blasting around at 40-50 mph is just asking to be taken out. When your bent bike and bruised self are lying on the ground, who was in the wrong doesn't make that much difference.

You passed at high speed in a residential area on the left. Was there a place for him to turn right? Did he have a signal on? Was there a road/parking lot/driveway on the left?

Is it possible he was looking for the garage door opener?

If you were sitting in the street trying to find your garage door opening and some jackass in a truck goes FLYING past you at 50mph on your left what would you say??

I usually just give em the finger if someone does a bonehead move. Like when they're staring at you as you approach and then suddenly decide at the last minute they could have gone 4 seconds ago, so to make up for it they pull out in front of you. I'm the kind of person whos anger sits in the pit of my chest for quite a while, and that's not a good thing to have when you're on a bike, so flipping them the big F-U is actually the safe thing to do .

But fighting isn't worth it. What with the assault charges and the broken face bones and the chance the driver could just pull out a shotgun and blow you away.

no signal, no driveway, fence on his right, nowhere to go on the left(someone elses property)

this is the street that i travel on everyday, its about 50 feet away from my house, and i know it very well.

P.S. the same end of the street was the place where i had my first accident.

For the fact that he went pretty quickly down a small road is kind of a sticker but there are many instances where a double parked cage on a wide street with 45MPH limit pull out unexpectedly enough to run into the left lane while some idiot is following a little close behind.
