Ever gotten smashed by a rock.

#1 Unread post by AnthonMac »

I took a big rock the other day to the windshield of my car, and I haven't gotten a bike yet. But how would someone handle a rock to the face? I'de imagine not a very good situation. Any one ever take a rock to the face. Tell the story. :boxed:

Fullface helmet. 'Nuff said.

I did take a painful rock to the shin though....Makes me want to dawn my soccer shinguards :) Honestly, the worst thing so far have been falling acorns or seeds from trees... just because they take me by suprise.

I took a rock off a dump truck just above the faceshield. It dented the vent adjuster, which eventually curled up in the sun from being weakened by the impact. I'm glad it was full face.
Ride safe...God bless!

I've taken one in the throat below my fullface. I couldn't breath for the next 10 seconds, but I still head out there. Every damn chance I get.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

On the way to work one morning I took a golf ball sized rock off a dump truck right at my helmet. I saw the damn thing comin' and was able to react quickly enough that I didn't take the rock full on in the visor. It caught me above and to the right of the front of the helmet... it sounded like someone had fired a .22 inside my head!

That there is one of my MANY reasons for wearing a full face helmet!!!
We're the first ones to starve
We're the first ones to die
The first ones in line for that pie in the sky
But we're always the last
When the gravy's shared out
For the worker is working when the fat cat's about

Never had a big one in the melon, but I've taken a few to the knees. I can say for sure, it hurts more than you want to experiance. I've had small ones off the helmet.... no big trauma if you can live with a chip in the paint.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

ive taken alot, just the down side of living in the desert weres theres gravel and rocks everywhere that gets kickd up off the road.

one time i was on a main road and workers were doing the grass along the road and the mower kickd a rock at me, hit me in my riding glasses (no helmet on) didnt hurt but its was a shocker.

another time i was riding next to a dump truck, and herd this really loud *ping sound, like metal snapping, must had been a bolt or something popped loose off the truck and naild me in the thigh, left a bruise.

was riding one day and a bird flew in front of me and got caught in the draft off a truck and kinda just got stuck mid air, ended up hitting it. right in my forearm, that didnt hurt but i felt and herd the bones break in the bird and feathers flying. didnt see it in my mirror so i was worried it got hung up some where on me or the bike, but didnt ever see any sign of it.

had my gf on the back one day and saw a Massive bug flying at me so i dodge and it misses me but pegs here right in the glasses lol, we got off the bike later i was 'watch out for them bugs eh' ,she was not impressed

Over the years I've had quite a few things hit me while riding, stones, rocks, bugs, my girlfriend etc.

Some hurt like Hell, others just sting.

A Motorcycle slammed into my ankle while I was cornering once  ....NOW THAT HURT!!!! Managed to pull over & flop the bike & myself onto the grass & roll around in pain for 20 mins. - No damage to the bike. :)
