It's like this... if you get insulted by a term, then it's probably because it hits too close to home.
And cruiser riders are automatically not squids, because of the second letter.
Also, in case (what in case? I KNOW it hasn't happened) none of you have figured this out, I'm not exactly the most serious of people. Grow a sense of humor, then read what I write.

How's that any different than the countless times it's been said here? What, it doesn't count because you didn't say me specifically? The fact of the matter is, there a few folks here that ride without and nobody seems to have the tact to keep comments like that to themselves knowing full well those people will read them and feel slighted.

And the difference between this and your ubiquitous slags against Harleys and religions other than your own is...?
People do dumb things all the time... it is called calculated risk.
It is like riding in a canoe without a life jacket. You only need them if you flip, but I calculate my chances of that based upon my skills and make a personal choice. (of course I always carry them on the boat, though)
When I have soccer practice, I don't always wear shin guards... Why? They impede movement, and it is a calculated risk based on how often I am on the receiving end of a kick without knocking the person on their "O Ring"... I'd rather take a penalty than a kick to the shins.
I don't think everyone who refuses to wear a helmet is necessarilly stupid, they have just calculated the risk for themselves, and made a personal decision. Being that where I live has crazy traffic sometimes, and mentally challenged drivers all of the time, I always wear my helmet... I refuse to take that risk. However, I am willing to take the risk of riding in general.
I try not to give people crap based on their personal risk management... as long as I am not affected if their risks are poorly calculated.

In short, a far cry. Questioning how a company can swap out a seat or a set of handlebars and “create” a whole new motorcycle that harkens back to its own unique era and how a company can charge a premium price for a not-so-premium motorcycle is entirely different than calling someone an idiot. I don’t think anyone is an idiot for riding a Harley.

There is a slight and subtle difference between posting a general opinion that it is not a good idea to not wear a helmet, and walking up to someone and saying, "dude, you're an idiot because you don't wear a helmet." Especially when it takes place in a thread about the whole debate.
I cannot help but notice how much fun you have showing up in those threads, then martyring yourself for the cause of not wearing a helmet, or other gear. If it bothers you so much, why do you still read the threads? That's the great thing about the intarweb, you don't need subject yourself to anything you don't want to.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I'll remember that during the next Harley/Religion/Social-Issue debate that pops up. No need to get offended or argue since you can just refrain from reading the thread in the first place.
