Hydrogen Peroxide can actually cause more cell damage, aggravating the initial injury.

Anyone with advanced firstaid training can tell you that hydogen-peroxide (HO) can and will kill just about anything it touches, germs hate the stuff, but so does the healthy tissue those germs are hiding in. By using HO, you kill off the good tissue and that is what can cause infection in any wound, especially a wound with the open area of a case of road rash.

replying to the scariest moments thread, yet posting on this one because it's more on topic. mustang, i would be raising holy hell about this. 10 weeks without a bike? to me that would be unacceptable. the police department already admitted fault. i'd be demanding a brand new bike and coverage of all health care resulting from the incident. that's the least they could do for putting your life at risk. it's not about going for the big claim. it's making things right.
