I lived in Burlington for 6 years, that still doesn't give you the right to be a jerk. And if you were TRUELY environmently serious you wouldn't ride a bike or drive a car, you'd walk and bike everywhere...

While that's a bit extreme, I think it's safe to say that everyone does their part to mess up the environment. So don't talk to Verm like him wanting a tear off helmet is going to single handedly destroy our ecosystem. How do you know he's planning on throwing them on the ground? What if his plan from day one was to ride for a while, then when he gets home to peel it off and throw it in the trash? You just assume that he's going to wait until he see's Smokey the Bear standing next to a No Littering sign before he chunks it...

Is this really all that big of a deal for people? Come on, be honest with yourself. Don't tell me some of you didn't see Loris Capriossi wearing his Sidi Vertigo's and say "hey, I could use me a pair of those" or see Nicky Hayden wearing his Arai RX-7 Corsair and say "hey, I'd like one of those!"

This is not a new phenomenon. It's how all of us guys end up with bigger/better/overkill stuff that we really don't need but we all secretly love to have!

I have no problem with Verm wanting cool stuff... with cool being defined however he wants to define it... my only problem is that he does such odd research... he obviously does a lot of research in the sense that he is constantly posting new pictures, new products, new vids, etc... but he doesn't actually look up how anything works or what it really does. He's been riding longer than I have (he started in January, I started in May) and I know more about how some of the stuff he's interested in works than he does. And he asks dumb questions about cleaning chains, filling gas tanks, and so on...yet he's obviously a LOT more interested than I am. He loves his bike, loves all this stuff, has a bunch more money, time, and mindshare invested than I ever will...and he doesn't know simple stuff that most of us find out easily. Then he goes and says he didn't learn anything from the MSF class 'cause he'd already been riding on his learner's permit.... That all leaves me scratching my head a bit. Not in a bad way I guess but it is a puzzler.

Throwing away a scrap of plastic instead of just washing the shield is less green... soap down the drain has less impact than plastic in the bin.
Ride it like you think owning it matters.

Just my :twocents:
I do that for 95% of his 16+ posts a day but the sheer volume of inane and often completely incorrect posts means he is going to attract negative comments.
As usual it is the majorities fault, as opposed to simply blaming the individual...

Are you for real, is there no water where you come from. I've never heard of spitting on your shield to clean it.

And what's up with your avatar?
