If you dont know who this is, look in the news. She murdered 5 of her kids by drowning them in a bathtub. The oldest, 7, tried to escape but she caught him, threw him in the tub and murdered him while he begged for mercy. She'd been planning it for a while apparently.

What gets me is in the newspapers we hear all about how she is pleading innocent by insanity. The first jury refused to give her the death sentence, just life! She got out on a technicality, now they are trying to put her in a mental institution.

A mental institution?? Am I the only one who thinks this woman should have been fried crispy within 10 minutes of her first trial? This is sick. Her life in a mental hospital will probably be 10 times better than the life she had in the shack she lived in. Next thing you know she'll be pregnant again and the courts will let her keep the baby.

Its the price we pay, for a free society. Throwing people in a mental instituition is an easy answer. But the cold hard truth is if they will never be able to re-integrate into society, why should they live in a place where their is nothing worth living for.
If its a cat or dog thats in pain, you get it killed humanely, to stop it living a life of pain. Same if it goes crazy. Why are people treated differently? Fear of what comes after death I guess. So many people claim to believe in an afterlife, but fear for the death of themselves and people around them. The human mind can be an interesting place, where reality gets blurred, and many double standards are drawn.
Also the human mind tends to send you off on random tangents, as I've realised that I have just done. What was the topic again?

That seems to be the answer..."only an insane person would do that". But look at the kid who dismembered his girlfriends galpal on her orders. One would consider that insane, why isn't HE in a mental institution?

One could argue that any murder would be insane, especially a murder of children. Does deviant behavior mean we are less accountable for our actions?

I'm kind of with Nibblet on the whole some people are never going to be reintroduced into society.

However I am not comfortable with the idea of the Courts terminating someones life, because to be honest they get it wrong so often and once dead there isnt a lot you can do to say sorry.

I propose setting up colonies on islands in the worlds wilder seas. These places can support life but it has to be worked for. I propose single sex self managed colonies. Just drop them off there and never think about them again - let nature bear the cost of containing them. Let them earn their food and allow them their freedom on the island.

Oh to hell with it let's just ship 'em to Australia. No way Australia could stop us and frankly the whole single sex thing is too likely to lead to bestiality and next thing you know you'll have people protesting the clubbing of baby seal-yates cubs....
Ride it like you think owning it matters.

didn't the british government try this one before? A cozy little place called Austrailia I recall. Seems like the Aussies got the better end of that deal.
