This isn't the same thing, but I couldn't find the one I bought. When I go to the store I'll see if I can find it again. I think the one a bough is for ATVs really, but it worked well on my chain.

do you think that will work quite as well the one you're using?

I think the one I just linked would require more work, but I notice you can replace the brushes on the one I linked. Mine you have to clear the brushes and throw the whole thing out. The thing I liked better about mine was that you could hook it on and spin the tire over and over and keep adding oil until the chain looked good. The tied down held it so it could keep going (in only one direction). But the hand held thing looks pretty good. When I find out what the other thing is called I'll let you know.VermilionX wrote:thanks scan! i appreciate it.

I've been using Bel-Ray, claims it has a solvent which will clean the chain, evaporate and leave lube on the chain, seems to work ok, but the cleaning portion is doubtful.....sems to have alot of flingoff tho....I think PB or Bike did a ranking of chain products in regard to lubing, longevity, and stickiness..have to find it tho, of course it was all lovely products we can't get easily here..damn lucky Brits....I beleive Ipone had a spray that was really high up if not 1st

For those using WD-40:
WD-40 penetrates past the o-rings and washing the grease out of the links!
For an o-ring chain, all you really need is something to protect the chain from dirt and moisture; the lube is already sealed into the chain.

WD40 works fine for me. I have used Chain wax and all I get is alot of fling and (the appearance of more grit on the chain). All that WD40 will use up the oil in the O-ring chains is a myth. I know many guys who use solely WD40 and are hardcore tourers and get over 12k miles easy on their chains. The biggest thing is to just keep it lubed. I am guessing that the fact that WD40 also cleans the chain helps keep it from wearing out as fast. Oil inside the chain is usually never the problem (in my experience). usually its more a problem from grit tearing up your sprockets giveing you nice 'hook' look. Keep it lubed and you should be fine whatever you use. Basically I do it at least every 1.5 weeks (about 600 miles), after washing and after riding or my bike sitting in the rain. It only takes about two minutes if that, so why not? I just do it right after I ride when I put it in the garage.

This is what I believed for a long time but there are enough people out there claiming that it works that I am going to give it a try on my current chain. I'm about 5-6000km in and the bike is remarkably clean. I really WANT this to work out but I will keep all posted on my results. Like I said earlier, my last chain went 36000km and was not in bad shape when I replaced it so I have set the bar pretty high. We shall see....icariz83 wrote:For those using WD-40:
