You have to understand, it will always come down to the cop and the judge. I was told that if a cop didn't show up I wouldn't have to pay a ticket for speeding. I went to court, the cop didn't show up, I told the judge when it was my turn that I wondered where the office was, and he said that if I wanted to push that point he would hold me. I didn't have a lawyer (why would you for a speeding ticket) so he threw down the challenge and right or wrong, I would have been held. I paid and did not have the time or resources to push this likely illegal treatment - I was in my 20s at the time.

I will open this up to someone with the actual ticket, but I think some judges and cops will allow you to explain yourself and understand logic. Some will want to collect the quick traffic money and won't want to hear anything. I've had both kinds of cops pull me over, and because there is variable, there is no way to know how it will go every time. If that is your judge, the one that just wants the money, you will need a lawyer or plan to pay. They are not affraid of 'Joe Citizen' in the court room. If you come in with a little knowledge from our website, it might make more trouble for you than it might be worth. Just my humble opinion.
