POST YOUR FIRST BIKE

#1 Unread post by ickis54 »

So lets put aside all the debate about which first bike a newbie should get. Post the first bike you learned on / purchased.. Also include how long u have been riding since then and maybe how many accidents you have been in.. or anything else you wanna share!!

Though it is not recommended as a first bike, I'm learning on a Honda Magna 700cc. It has about 80HP and weighs about 550lbs. I've been riding for almost 3 months and almost 3k miles under my belt on the bike. It has been very reliable since then though it is on the sidelines at the moment waiting on a new front tire.

Learned on a 1971 Honda Mini-Trail 50 when I was 7.

First street bike was a 1983 Honda VT500FT Ascot when I was 16. Though I was riding it around the neighborhood when I was 14, it was my fathers. Still have it.

Dyin'? Boy, he can have this little life any time he wants to. Do ya hear that? Are ya hearin' it? Come on. You're welcome to it, ol' timer. Let me know you're up there. Come on. Love me, hate me, kill me, anything. Just let me know it.

I just bought a GS500F about three weeks ago. I have put about 400 miles on it so far. And it has only been dropped once on wet grass. That was kind of a fluke. Just a word of advice for all. Street tires on wet grass does not work.

I bought a beat up '76 KZ400 in '79 and taught myself to ride (no MSF courses). Been riding ever since. I crashed that KZ about 5 times and nearly all of them could have been classified as "Basic stuff you should have learned in an MSF course".

Bought a Honda Shadow600VLX, took the MSF course three weeks later and have been riding for about 2 1/2 weeks to work daily. 640 miles and counting (dropped it in the parking lot once, no damage but to my pride)
BTW... no prior experience.
