go to google and type in trac dh100--there is a little information about the origin of your bike there.

I guess you may as well do as Tech says and see if you can get it started. No sense in tearing it down until you know it needs it. Drain the crankcase and put fresh oil in, replace the spark plug and put a quart or so of gas in the tank. Then see if you can get it to start up!

I have another quick question. If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm pretty clueless when it comes to engines and other mechanical stuff. :oops:

I haven't gotten hold of a manual yet. Any idea what kind of oil I should use?

I'd say any quality 10W/40 motor oil would be fine. There should be a sight-glass somewhere on the side of the crankcase so you can get the oil level right. Make sure you don't overfill! If the bike has a centerstand, put it up on it when checking the oil level.

Ok, I guess there is a little problem. I changed the oil and the spark plug. I put some gas in the tank.

When I try to start it, the kick start just goes right down without any resistance. You could push it down with your hand if you wanted. I'm sure that can't be good.

As I've already said, I'm not very good with engines and stuff like this. One thing I was wondering about was the battery. There are removable plastic side panels on the bike. On the one side, there is a little thing with some wires running to it. I'm guessing that's the battery. Does the battery strictly run the lights, horn, etc, or could it affect the way the run/off switch operates?

I would forget looking for the battery(under the seat, it looks like a small car battery) and start looking for your lost compression. No resistance at the kickstarter = no compression = no running :(

Before answering that, are you pulling in the clutch while trying to kickstart it? That would explain why there's no resistance - and why it won't start. The bike needs to be in neutral (should be a green light somewhere on the gauges to indicate this), the kill switch needs to be set to "RUN" (or "ON"), the clutch lever has to be all the way out (in other words, don't squeeze it) and of course the key has to be turned to the ignition position. If all these conditions are met (and the battery is fully charged) it should fire up.

I predict a gold star for gummeinte - I think the clutch is engaged. I hope for mrdj115's sake that that's what it is. It would be sweet if the bike just started right up...
