If it were a perfect machine, it would be 150, but that would require eliminating friction, which I suppose is impossible. Also, your horsepower will fluctuate based on what type of fuel/oil/etc you've got in it. Not alot, but you can probably lose/gain 5 or so based on a few different fluids.VermilionX wrote:yeah i guess so.earwig wrote:Verm... at the crank and at the rear wheel where the dyno measures are very different...
very different... not just different.
it's still cool.
she feels wicked fast when i push her and that's good enough for me right now.
111 does seem a bit low, I'd have figured it'd be about 120 myself, but hey, what the heck do I know. I'm on an EX500...probably puts out 45 horsepower on the dyno.
I like how you pull little tricks so you can write your precious curse words...can't you just use the *'s like everyone else? Is spouting the F word that important to you?Kaiser Soze wrote:Quit worrying about the [DO NOT hide profane language with turning on and off the bold/italics - it's still not acceptable language on this website] numbers and just learn to ride your bike.
I agree with what you're saying, but c'mon, spare me the language.

Verm, most dynos automatically correct for elevation and temperature... it sounds like this one did not, so I wouldn't sweat it at all. You could take it to a different dyno and get a completely different result.
BTW Earwig, that 84 ft-lbs of torque must feel nice!!
Verm, where are your torque numbers?

i dunno... they only gave hp numbers, it's bargain deal maybe that's why.DivideOverflow wrote:Verm, most dynos automatically correct for elevation and temperature... it sounds like this one did not, so I wouldn't sweat it at all. how much does a regular dyno run usually cost?
and yeah, there's too many variables. i heard it also depends on the calibration of the dyno as well as the person running the bike on the dyno.

I personally have never seen a bike dyno to what the factory says. If you really want to know what your HP is you have to dyno it yourself. Also your Torque is just as important as HP if not more. A 600CC can pull about 110HP and my RC will pull 119 but you cant jump from a 600 to a 1000 and think the 9hp only gives you about a 10% power increase.

nah it's cool... the top speed of my bike is within my expectation so that is more believable to me than a dyno sheet.Relsek wrote:I feel for you verm, here, does this make you feel better. I don't have photoshop so this is the best I could do with paintbrush

Especially one's like this.MattL wrote:You understand dynos are completely pointless don't you?
HP @ MPH? WTF does that mean? I'll tell you, it means nothing. It is a number that people can throw around to.......uuhh, I don't know why you would want to go around barfin' up meaningless numbers....
Even dyno figures presented correctly, HP @ RPM, are just extrapliations of what really matters, that being Torque @ RPM.....
Truely meaningless numbers on that graph.
No Witnesses....
