The difference, CNF, is that you actually use your bike.

How'd the weekend ride go?
Ride it like you think owning it matters.

Yeah but he rides his to work... at least when it isn't raining....

You should see if Corbin makes a seat for your bike... and maybe get some bar risers or the like so your bike isn't so uncomfortable to ride. Actually, what you should do is get yourself a ninja 250 and make new fairings, change the geometry, new seat, etc. to convert it into your dream sport bike-looking bike... then sell it to someone else who should be riding a 250 but only likes the sportbike "look" and do it again. Within a year you'd probably be making bank and saving lives....

It's all good though. :)

And what is the address of your employer?

If I had a beater bike I'd take it to the track. I can't see commuting on a beater bike... too much chance of being stranded in strange places, and it needs to work every day with minimum maintenance. That's why I bought my bike new even though I might have saved a few hundred bucks buying the same model used. On the track, however, beaters are perfect... you don't care what happens to the fairing... if the engine fails you are still at the track and it's no big deal... and you can push it all the harder because you aren't afraid that slipping up will bring your loan upside down by dropping $5K off the value of your bike.

My office is in a little industrial park with a shared parking area... there are maybe 15 businesses ranging from advertising agencies and computer software companies to machine shops and custom car builders. Last year the only bike that ever parked there was a big heavily modded harley that the owner says he has about 40K in. This year that bike is joined by two GSX750Rs, an R6, another full dresser Harley, and from time to time a GSXR 1000 in the parking lot... not counting my ninja of course. Most of the new (as compared to last year) bikes are '06 model year...

Great! I wrote a bit about it in my blog. I don't want to steal V's thread here, but it was a lot of fun...don't regret it one bit, except the ride back was horrible (I think I blacked out after the 7th hour of riding 75mph next to 18-wheelers and families in SUVs with u-hauls dragging behind them - since I have no windshield :-D ).
