kickstand kill switch

hi i am contemplating buying a 2006 kawasaki ninja 500r the kickstand was broken off when it was laid down. when it is put in gear, the engine dies. is there a sensor i can buypass?

There is a little sensor down there, but I am not sure how to bypass it. It is probably safer to make it work correctly though.

try to see if you can push something on the sensor to make it think that the kickstand is up.

if you have no real working kickstand what do you do with it when you arent riding?

Probably the center stand...if I had to guess.

I've had the problem of forgetting to put the kickstand up, but I dunno what to do when it breaks off. I'd take it to a mechanic and get a new stand installed personally, you can probably find one on a parts bike or on ebay pretty cheap!

On my bike when the stand is down the switch is pushed in. I am guessing most bikes are the same.

Just push the switch in and make it stay that way.

you can disable those kill switches, but if this is your first bike i would recommend actually putting a new kickstand on there and having the switch wired properly. this will help you avoid some possible further damage from trying to move off with the kickstand down
