Don't worry, when I passed the MSF it only took two weeks for my documentation to arrive. You'll be on the road in no time.

I've got the MSF course to look forward to this weekend. I've got myself a mesh jacket and I'll be bringing lots of water bottles in a nice, cold cooler.

The only downfall is that you don't get your MC license if you pass the MSF down here, just your insurance discount.

Check your course requirements.. we didn't have to wear jackets, just long sleeves.

Bring snacks too.

here, some companies give discount. AAA doesn't.

but i took the MSF bec i don't wanna deal w/ the DMV riding test and passing the MSF gives a form that bypasses the DMV riding test. you still have to take the written test though.

I want to wear the mesh jacket. I bought it purely for the course (considering that I won't be getting my bike until Christmas, at the earliest) and I'm going to wear it.

Also, yeah, I should totally bring snacks.

That's fine.. in our class we never got above 20mph, and we only did that a few times. No one fell over or dropped a bike or anything.. a few people brought mesh jackets to wear over t-shirts the first day, and none of them brought the jackets back the second day. Just something to keep in mind.

it's different every where you go.

up here the lot is usually 25mph and under but we do a road ride which gets up to 110kmph so it's all gear all the time here for the course i took.

there is no real test to pass the class other than completing the excersises correctly...and the Test at the end is actually a certified tester for the province who does a low speed skills test of all the excersises. if you pass you get a form to take to the registry and you get your new license in the mail in 2 weeks or so, but you get to keep your paper license which will allow you to ride solo (iirc).

If you fail the skills test, you don't fail the course. you also have the option of just doing a road test which some people find easier than the slow speed skills test.

at my MSF they gave us a written test, we did it, waited around for them to grade them, came back in, they told us all we passed, then sent us out again and came in 1 at a time and took care of the paperwork, I rode at night that night, just cause I could!

But Too Cool won't let you go on the road ride if they don't think you're ready. One girl in my class was not allowed to go. She was kinda scary on the bike, though.

And yes, they do let you keep your paper license, and it does allow you to ride solo. I got my plastic license in the mail a couple of weeks later. I must have stared at that "Class: 56" for about an hour, with a HUGE grin on my face!

In AZ we took the MSF on Sat and Sun. Sat AM was classroom.Sat Noon to 5PM was on the course. Sunday AM was our written exam given by the MFS guys. Then Sun PM again was on the course. If you fail(and they make sure you don't). That was it. Gave us the DMV form to take to DMV, Got license, no written no skills test no nothing except $6.00. Printed it up right there and gave it to me. Class was $225.00 and IF you fail you can take the class again for free.
