What is this part called?

#1 Unread post by NorthernPete »

I am looking through the scrap yards (as the dealer has told me this part is obsolete) for the part which holds the pipes to the heads (I dont know what its callled, exhaust clamp?) I have a picture of where it goes here. currently all the places I have contacted have told me the exhaust systems are rusted out on the scrap bikes and I cant get this part. My question is, What is the parts name, and do you think Id be able to get a part machined and would it work, any responses would be appreciated.

somebody here might have an exhaust flange clamp--it would help if you would tell us what you are working on.

On older Honda's the exhaust clamp is attached to the pipes. If you cant find them at the dealer, try asking the folks at a local exhaust shop. Chances are they could give you some insights?

Personally I prefer to call it Wally (or Waldo if you're american)

pipe

it kind of looks like that pipe has a lip on it - if that is true, you might be able to just weld a piece on with a hole in it to retain the pipe in place. Then you just need the right size bolt for your bung-hole.

Oh, I couldn't resist. Sorry.
