How fast is too fast?

on surface streets I usually just go with the pace of the rest of the traffic or about 5mph faster. If theres no traffic usually just 5-10 over. on the interstate or 2 lane roads I cruise about 80. At 80 my bike has little vibration and seems to get its best gas milage, if I go much faster it gets vibey and starts sucking down the gas.

have brifely been up to 120 on a deserted backroad but the wind was intense at that speed.

i pretty much stick with verm's school of thought...
however my top speed is 114mph simply because my bike will not go any faster.

I have noticed that around town and on surface streets I tend to go fast too. There was one time that I opened my bike up on a streight and hit 125MPH.

I usually try to stay near the speed limit... PSL around here on the highway is mostly 90 KM/hr, and Ill do about 100... I have gotten it up to 140, but not for long as Im still in the break in period... (Im torn between going to my cottage on my days off and riding.... its tough...)

Residential and through town I keep to the limit mostly. Tickets suck and with a pull-me-over-red bike it doesn't seem smart to tempt the local pork.

Highways are different, lots if FIPS on my stretch of I94 so 80 to 90 is nothing out of the ordinary. There are other roads that higher speeds can be explored on, but I'm strictly a law abiding citizen.

I personally think the safest thing to do is go with the flow of traffic because going faster would require u to weave in and out of traffic but if u go slower u get a$$holes that tailgate you. If there is no traffic I think you should be able to go as fast as you are comfortable with. Personally I dont think the world should have posted speed limits but than again there are a bunch of idiots out there that need the speed limits to stay safe.

Anyways I done ranting for no.

In neighborhoods in the major arteries, 30 is comfortable, but if its 25 I will limit it.

Gotta agree completely there. Always drive that slow when the area is heavy residential, and the area to the sides of the road are filled with visibility obstructions (hedges and the like) if visibility is better to the sides Ill go up to the speed limit.

Generally 20s 30s and 40s I do the limit, no more (with a few exceptions for roads I know where the hazards are)

after that, 10-20 mph above the limit (again depending on the roads, sometimes Ill be much slower than the limit)

Basically quick enough to enjoy it, without endangering other people

The only time I go faster is if I don't trust the person behind me... Put a bit of distance between us, whilst I look for a safe place to change lanes, or pull over.

There is absolutely no excuse for the 1% of riders here that do 60+ in a 30
