K2 Gixxer cutting out

#1 Unread post by Herzeleid »

hey, my gixxer randomly cuts out and bogs way down..
it doesn't seem to have a pattern. it has done it for a few months. it dies, and then turns back on while driving down the road.the tac drops all the way down then comes back up after a couple seconds. i still have power to the headlight/cluster. i cant have it diagnosed because it isn't consistent in doing it. anyone have an idea what it might be?
im getting a new feul pump for starters.

yeah that might be right, but it seems real random... just out of nowhere.
if something were clogged it seems like it would be consistent.
the fuel filter on the bike is in the fuel pump.. so i have to buy the entire thing. well worth it if it fixes the problem though.

No, it probably wouldn't. I've dealt with that problem on two different cars. On the first car, it would occasionally cut out, especially when I stomped on the gas. It was very, very inconsistent. The engine stalled out once a week or so when at a red light or something too. Fuel filter problems cause random issues.

Good luck!

just a thought may not help but a intermitent short in the pickup wires might cause somthing like that due to engin vibrations shaking them around.

Check battery terminals. Sounds like they are loose.

I have had a bad kill switch on my bike (come to think of it it is still on there) They get loose inside and make contact due to vibration.
