Just picked one of these up (see my post in the other forum (viewtopic.php?t=2194):




i'd love to hear from anyone else that has an 82 nighthawk or simliar and hear what you have to say about it. I've always been of the opinion honda makes good stuff, and i had a few of their 4 cyl 500's from the late 70's.
Anything I should watch out for though? Aftermarket parts accessible? Anything youhave to add ? love to hear from you!

Never had one but knew a few guys with one.....very reliable Honda quality. Enjoy your new ride. Oh...one thing make sure you use six point 12mm socket on oil filter housing bolt so as not to damage bolt head...and don't install too tight as next time removal may be very difficult.

I have a 85 nighthawk 650 in Blue, and just today i got a parts bike a red 83 650 nighthawk.

i just need to get all the parts bike body panels paintedand some new decals. and i'll have a very nice looking 85 650, those are great bikes
you'll enjoy it alot.

almost the exact style of my old 82 cx500 custom. i think the rims are even the same! though of course the cx was a transverse twin. cool and magical

My buddy had one for years...... good, reliable bike that hauled him around the province with no complaints, and he is a big dude for the bike. Regular basic maintance is the best way to avoid any problems.....

Honda put that basic 4-valve aircooled engine into just about a gazillion bikes between '77 and '83 and they kept putting it into the 750 nighthawk for years afterwards. Regular oil-changes and occasional attention to valves should keep you going for a long time. Check the brake lines, fuel lines, etc for cracks. Rubber stuff deteriorates with time and if any of it is still original on this bike, it needs to be replaced.

I have one I'm fixing up, if you felt like doing me a favor I really need to know where a vacuum hose connects. It's on the carbs, can be seen from the right side of the bike. Connects between carbs 2 and 3 and I don't know what it hooks up to. Thanks, fun bike though, I like the quad-exhausts on it and the sound of it.

The '82 650 and '83 750 were still the old 2 valve /cylinder. The '83 650 and '84 750-S model went to the much more powerful 4valve/cylinder. They were completely different engines between those years.....

thats probably good, because as things turned out, i didnt get the bike pictured above. What I do have now though is an 84 CB650SC Nighthawk. Shaft driven DOHC. Its being delivered this sunday actualy. Cant wait!
