Mopre like a tear down and rebuild. I know a couple of people with them. 180 and 154 big bore kits restectively full race spec. They are evil, evil nasty little machines but damned good fun.

Brigs went pop a few days ago because he was ragging it along at silly speeds.

I'd be concerned that there maybe some unseen damage due to the lowside and should point out that it is a full racebike, even if BM thinks its cute for only being a 125.

Cute? Who said a damn thing about cute? I'm aware of how nasty two strokes can be (dirtbike guy here

).

The important consideration here is that he's apparently only out the cost of repairs if he decides to take this bike. You'd have to be INSANE not to take that offer. At the very least he could get it fixed up, ride it around to see if he likes it, and sell it if he doesn't for a possibly not-insignificant profit.

One would not be insane to not take it, or consider it. I realize that this is one of those bikes that the US doesn't get, but in this part of the world, they're nearly everywhere. I see one sitting outside in the rain in front of a bike shop when I go down to our regular bike store.

Don't let the stars get in your eyes. Sure, nice bike. But, that doesn't mean it doesn't come without a price tag (that isn't just money). I realize you're kinda in the "buy mode" since you're looking around, so any opportunities that come up are exciting. I understand that. But don't let your good sense run away with ya. Thats how you end up with buyer's remorse, or worse, a bagfull of problems that ends up costing you more in the long run.

Thank you for your tips.

I just found out that it's not the brand new model. I initially expected it would be 04 or 05 year model, but it is actually '99.

I'm wondering whether it's a little too old. And the bike's past history is kind of shady. However, my cousin tells me that the owner of the shop he goes to for maintenance says the engine is in good shape.

This makes me think again before deciding to spend some money on it. I realize '99 model prob was an extremely good bike in its calss, but after 6 or 7 years, I wonder whether it would roll fine after I fix it.
