Mom's gonna HATE me

#1 Unread post by BuzZz »

Mom never liked me riding, but learned to live with it. She took a spill on the back of someone else's bike years ago and refuses to get on another one, ever.

So anyway, I took my bike over to Dad's place the other day to show him, and he liked it, mostly that it wasn't another bright, loud 'death machine' like I always used to show up with. I commented to various people that now Dad would probably get a bike, only half-joking.

Then today one of our co-workers came up to me and said,"So your Dad is looking for a bike now, huh?"

I figured he was just kidding as I mentioned it to him before, but no, Dad is actually looking for a Shadow or something similar and was asking if this guy knew anyone selling one. He still hasn't said word one about it to me yet, lol.

Mom is going to freak when she hears about this. And then blame me :frusty:

So now I wonder how long it will be before he starts asking me questions, he is pretty green in the bike world. Too bad I know there is no way in hell I can convince him to get a small bike to learn on first. I'm just glad he doesn't want a RoadKing like he always said he would like to get. I wonder if I can talk him into a 750 rather than a 1100..... probably not.

I forsee some interesting discussions with him and Mom over this one....

You're such a bad influence, coming between your folks like that. He's probably not talking with you now for your own protection. This way, he can honestly say to your mom, that you had nothing to do with his decision.

Imagine doing rides with your dad - I only first met my birth dad when I was 32 years old, and last summer we took our first ride together. Very cool!

Cheers,

Kinda hard to argue with mom, huh? Just tell her you'll take good care of him.

First off, I work with Dad over half of every 10 day shift..... I'm waaaaayyyy too much like him to get along with him, all buddy-buddy like  And he drives much more conservatively than I do and never, ever lets me forget it, he would blow an artery if he seen me ride for any distance...... I don't really want to do that to the old boy, I am rather fond of him. But I do think he should get a bike, it do him a world of good, stress-wise.

But he's a cagey bugger..... he hasn't mentioned it to me yet, and I dropped hints and openings like confetti all day......

Hey, maybe it'll turn out all fairy-tale princess like? ;)

Dad gets bike, mom deals with it, eventually loosens up.

Then, before you know it, she's tired of riding back-seat, and wants her own.
