I've had and rode many sport bikes including several Ninjas and this one is hands down the best I've ever owned. Seems like every year Kawa's fit and finish gets better...and regardless of what many people will say, in the long run that's almost as important as the ride.

I think you should take a training course before you go off and drop $$ on a bike that will eat you up if you have no clue what you're doing.
Why worry about other riders or traffic? On my ninja I'm not around very long to hear or see them. I know that maintenance & service is important or it'll go to pot quickly. Probably the same w/most bikes.
The thing I like the most about my ninja? I've had it just over 3 years & it hasn't thrown me off onto the ground, yet. Then again, I'm not as stupid as some I've seen riding.
I just traded my '05 EX250 in on a CBR100RR. After not having ridden in MANY years - I started out with the 250 Ninja. DO NOT expect screaming performance - the only screaming is from the engine!! I had no complaints with this bike. I put 6322 miles on in in just under 9 months. I rode from Sept(05) thru Jun(06) when I traded it in. I am 6 foot and 200lbs. I carried a laptop in a backpack. average commute is about 30 miles a day. (I also did 2 LOOOONG trips (500+ miles on it.....)) I was getting between 52-58Mpg. On the long trips , I was on I81 - that was a bit nerve-racking. I stayed with traffice (when I could....) Sometimes I was able to get up to 90+Mph and cruise for a while and still averaged almost 60mpg. It was an easy riding bike. Handling and performace were also good (for it's size). I communted on a major road (Rt 40) daily, and occasionally on I95. I never really had any trouble with the bike. I did (painfully) follow the breakin recommendations - and did all of the maintenance on it myself. It is a vey easy bike to service.
I would recommend this bike to any new rider - or anyone just getting back into riding after a break (mine was about 14 yrs... (That's how long it took to convince my wife to "allow" me to get another bike after hearing/seeing pics from my days in the USMC on my 600....
