That rounds out to about 400 miles a day, or 8 hours a day at about 50mph. That's not too bad, considering it looks like you took a few pics and stopped often. I have done a few long trips and usually ride for at least 12 hours, 15 if I'm anxious to get to a certain destination. My son & I did from Toronto, Ontario to Calgary, Alberta via Michican Peninsula in just a few hours under 24 hours in the saddle. We were NOT going to get caught by the massive rain storm that followed us all the way from just West of the Michigan Upper Peninsula. He lives in Calgary. I still had to make it home in 2 days from there to the Yukon. Which I did.

Why would you post a 'one up' response to a ride story, AHR? Most sane riders feel its foolhardy to push yourself beyond 6 or 8 hours of riding. They weren't in a race. They were on VACATION for pete's sake. :frusty:

We're supposed to impressed? Sorry, but I think you were just lucky to arrive alive.

L-L, sorry but I'm not trying to impress anyone. Just stating the facts about my ride, as everyon else on this site does. You may think it's bragging, but it's the simple fact of a ride. As for sane riders doing 8 hours, what constitutes a sane rider? The length of time one spends in the saddle each day? Not really. I have worked 10 hours a day for about 30 years operating heavy equipment and driving tractor-trailer trucks, so I am used to long hours in the saddle. On the other hand, my wife, who is a teacher, finds that 6 hours a day is plenty long for her. It boils down to what you are accustomed to. I think it's insane to work 7 days a week and 12-14 hours a day but I'm sure those people who do would disagree with me. So, as you see, or I hope you do, defining sanity is as varying as opinions. :santa:

PS. I'm not the type of person to try to be 'one up', as you mistakenly believe. You don't know me, as I don't know you, and I know the written word sometimes is misconstrued, so I apologize for anything I may have typed that you think is objectionable or may have offended you, or anyone else for that matter.
