Greetings From Galway, New York!

Hi! I'm a female rider, this is my third summer. Presently, I ride a 2006 Honda Shadow Aero 750 in Dark Candy. She's so pretty! I have almost 1,800 miles since purchasing her in April.

I took the MSF BRC when I turned 40...I just turned 43. And, yes, I AM fighting it every step of the way :wink:

Previously, I had a Shadow VLX 600, which I put 1200 miles, and before that, a Rebel which only got about 600 on. I got blown around in a big way on the 600, and my feet were too big for the Rebel. How guys ride it is beyond me!!!

I'm not going to say it has been an easy season on the 750, but I have ridden her more, longer, and cooler places than either of the others. I'm very happy with her, and I hope we have a long future together!

The roads to ride here in Upstate NY are great, the scenery is beautiful, and there are lots of bikes!

I still have some confidence problems, and I don't like to ride in tight groups. My hubby is not really much help - he's self taught, and just hollers "give it gas" with no real way to verbalize answers to my rpm, gearbox, type questions. He's a nice guy, but, we really don't ride together. His friends give that "joe advice"... although I have taken them for their licenses! :laughing:

Welcome to the forums, I'm sure that Aero will be a close friend for quite a while. For great advice, you've come to the right place, check out the women's forum for those confidence questions. To beat Verm to the punch, how about some pictures of that "Dark Candy" 8)

Do you have the Shadow anymore?? I am looking to buy one. I'm a lady and I thind they would be the perfect bike for me. What is your thought?

I traded the 600 in at the dealer where I bought it, for the 750. Interesting, my sister in law went and bought it from them. It worked out great - I got a good deal on the 750, she paid what they gave me credit for, and it was an arm's length transaction. She loves it!

I do think it would be a great starter bike. I found, tho, that even the most local local rides for me are on at leat a two lane highway, and there are alot of tracotr trailers, pu trucks with boats, motor homes etc. that were giving me way to much blowing - buffeting? - anyway, when I rode the 750 on the Northway (two to three lanes in both direction, 65 mph speed limit, cross winds) I felt great on the 750. My sister in law complained after that ride that SHE was getting blown about on it. I weigh about 130 #'s, she's about 180. So, I think I made the right decision in putting the extra 60 pounds on the bike (the 750 is 519 #, the 600 is about 460#) not on me :wink:

That being said - the 600 is more shift friendly, easier to handle, and a sharp looking bike.
