Yes it would be nice for the schools to have a better "health curriculum" but it's not going to happen. Schools, at least in my area, are so concerned about students passing standardized testing such as the FCAT that they've cut alot of programs out to make room for mandatory tutorial sessions. All of thier enengy is going towards the core subjects instead of offering a balanced curriculum.

My childrens school added a salad bar and cut down on some of the fried foods, but not all of it, the chips and ice cream are still available as well.

It's up to the parents to educate the kids, no on else is going to do it for you. Like other things temptations are going to be there and it's the parents responsability to make thier kids aware of what healthy choices they can make.

We need to teach the parents responsibility before we can expect them to teach any of it to their kids.

We're becoming a nation of finger-pointers. We refuse to take responsibility for our actions...we always want to blame someone else, and want someone else to pay us for it.

Just look at the other post about the van driver who struck a motorcyclist refusing to admit fault for a prime example. That van driver is probably a daddy, too. Think his kids are being taught that they need to be responsible?

There absolutely should be more education about it - on both sides of the issue. What you need to eat to be healthy, what kind of exercise is right, etc. THere is a lot of misinformation out there, and you have to spend quite a while reading both about physical activity and what you are eating to keep on top of things. It really shouldn't be as difficult as it is to get good information. That being said - all the information in the world isn't going to help if the people who are obese refuse/don't want to change things. They can't be forced into change or the change will never occur for more than short term.

On the flip side, no one needs to be made fun of for being fat. That accomplishes nothing.

Not one that makes any sort of difference. At all. If it were true than my gym would be packed with folks trying to lose weight. The only thing that makes a difference is for the person who is overweight to decide to change. People calling them names won't do that - it'll just "pee" them off or depress them.

ive fought several. not to stereotype them all, but in my experience they are slow as hell and tire quickly. the only thing they have working in their advantage is the fact that they can hit hard, and have plenty of padding on their bodies to absorb the impact of a punch. this is entirely off subject tho, lets get back on track :offtopic:
