obesity in america
im flattered that you went through all that trouble to show that i am ignorant. i can prove your ignorance much quicker by pointing out that you cant recognize sarcasm from a serious comment. maybe the internet makes it difficult sometimesfireguzzi wrote:This is not off topic becuase it seems that from the very begining you are trying pretty hard to sound ignorant, and this is just another step in proving it.DirtyD86 wrote:ive fought several. not to stereotype them all, but in my experience they are slow as hell and tire quickly. the only thing they have working in their advantage is the fact that they can hit hard, and have plenty of padding on their bodies to absorb the impact of a punch. this is entirely off subject tho, lets get back on trackfireguzzi wrote:Do you fight a lot of fat kids?DirtyD86 wrote:fat kids cant fight worth a sh**fireguzzi wrote:Yeah, that'll help.DirtyD86 wrote:

You must have gotten beat up by fat kids.
It must have made you feel pretty good to fight several fat kids, who are slower then you. I just make that assumtion becuase you say you have fought several. Not one or two but several.
After this and some of your other posts I have read
I have come to the conclusion that you are completly ignorant, and intolerant of other people that are not like you.if you think a picture of angelina jolie is "stupid" i have no choice but to think you are a homosexual.
and you never answered my question I asked you a long time ago.
Here is a little more of your ignorance....I said that becuase I was misled by your avatar, I had no idea that it was Angelina jolie in that picture.
But if you think someone is gay becuase they think a picture of Angelina is stupid then you are a little close minded.
And so what if I was gay? Would you have a problem with that? It came across sounding that way to me.
Thats a valid point concerning the obeisity problem.you must be one of the fatties![]()
Insults are a good way to destroy self esteem and MAYBE make someone do something about the way they look JUST to be socially accepted by ignorant people like you. Wich is not a real cure to the problem. It just makes it all that much worse becuase now they are trying to impress idiots who have nothing constructive to offer them.as harsh as it sounds, insults are a form of motivation.

also, id like to point out that ive never started a fight in my life.

People just have to get out more and do physical activities. It just gets harder now as we have computers, TV and video games to keep us in one spot.
I blame the parents for not teaching their kids and also for thinking that suing fast food places are the way to solve the problem. I have eaten so much fast food and have yet to gain any appreciable fat mass but I just can't stop moving around. I don't want a future of bland tasting food... something on along the lines of Demolition Man.
Lack of education and moderation is the culprit when it comes to childhood problems such as violence, obesity etc.

One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

Maybe you shouldn't start a topic if all your posts in it are going to be sarcastic.
It's hard to tell, when you go through the trouble of posting a whole artical on the subject, that you are being sarcastic with all your other posts in the thread.

As far as I can tell just about everyone in this thread is saying the same thing, more or less, and more or less agrees with everyone else.

Here in BC, kids still have recess. You can see them outside running around and yelling.
One of the problems facing teenage girls is that in high school, PE tends to be competitive.
Not everyone is athletically gifted, so the non athletic kids never get picked for any team. Too much emphasis is placed on being a "winner", or a fast runner or who can do the most situps.
If PE classes were geared for fun and activity instead of competition, more young girls would stay in PE instead of dropping it the first chance they get.

alright fireguzzi, the following post will contain no sarcasm. if this pisses you off, then you know for sure that i am an ignorant "O Ring":blues2cruise wrote: Not everyone is athletically gifted, so the non athletic kids never get picked for any team. i agree that PE should be fun. all kids should have fun while they are still young, but a competitive drive is required to make it in this world. no one dreams of living a typical and mediocre life whenever they are children, no one. everyone wants to be an astronaut, a famous athlete, a doctor, that sort of thing. if we all dreamed of being the manager at red lobster when we were kids, part of the charm this world has to offer would be missing.
similarly, no one wants to be overweight "when they grow up". kids need to be motivated to achieve success and live happy lives, whatever that may be for them. my comment about insults being a form of motivation was sarcasm. to be honest, i dont know how to motivate kids to lose weight. if i had to guess, id say its 60% parents, 40% school/friends/outside influences. one thing i do know is that obesity is a roadblock on the highway to happiness

overweight people arent healthy, and being unhealthy physically also means you are unhealthy mentally, to some extent. you can argue this all you want, its hard for some to believe, but it is true. for the next week, eat junk food and dont get any exercise. get only a few hours of sleep a night, and see how you feel at the end of that week. youll be losing your mind. the week after that, get plenty of rest, exercise every day, and eat as healthy as possible. then compare and contrast and try telling me im wrong.

Further to this, I didn't mean to place all the blame on the schools... As much as I hate to, I do believe some blame also rests with the parents.
Not all I grant you, but some parents just seem to give me the impression that kids just happen to look after themselves ok without guidence.
Seeing kids outside playing is becoming a rarety (I can't count the amount of times my parents kicked me out the house to go play outside). I understand that in some neighbourhoods, you wouldn't want your kids outside on the streets, but then theres rarely any effort to take them down to a safe park to play with them.
Some (not all) parents are just more than happy to let them plug into a computer everyday, for hours, because it keeps them quiet.
Its no-wonder we're turning into a reclusive population, with kids reaching onto myspace for friendship, rather than building friendships with other kids in the park.
Like I say, no-ones completely to blame, but also

I'm sure what I've written doesn't describe even 50% of parents, but then prehaps even 1% is too much

So in other words they face the same problems teenage boys have been facing for hundreds of years? I was always one of the last to get picked at athletics in school...if you have a disadvantage, its all the more important to work hard to overcome it, you don't sit around complaining about competition because you can't compete. The whole "oh, you're smaller than the others so we'll lower our standards so you can join" is silly IMO. That wont work in real life when people are really competitive.blues2cruise wrote:Here in BC, kids still have recess. You can see them outside running around and yelling.

Competition is good. Winning is good, and losing is good. I'd say losing teaches a child more than winning does.
