Ok...if you want to get 'technical'...A man with a broken leg is no threat, I say. His friends may be something else to worry about...but the fool with the snapped bones sticking through his pants leg is probably not going to be able to do much but howl.jonnythan wrote:No, he doesn't.SuperRookie wrote:All I can say to that is "a man with a broken leg ceases to be a threat."
Not when he or his friends know who you are. Or his friends are within earshot. Or he has a long-range weapon, like, say, a handgun.

1) I'd be *damn* impressed if you could give a large man a compound femur fracture with one deft blow.
2) If I were the large threatening man in that situation, and I had a firearm handy, I have no doubt that I'd unholster said firearm and shoot you. I've had lots of dramatic injuries, including painfully broken bones, but pain is nothing compared to the adrenaline pumping through your body in a life or death situation.

I hate to turn this into a "no way" "yes way" issue but, in defense of the martial arts, the size of a man is irrelevant AND a broken bone can partake just as easily in a large man as it can in a small one.jonnythan wrote:Two things:SuperRookie wrote:Ok...if you want to get 'technical'...A man with a broken leg is no threat, I say. Basically put, any man can condition his body to accept punishment in MOST areas, but every man has impact points which can be snapped like a twig, and this is what the martial arts teaches. Bottm line, as quoted from "Road House", "Take the biggest guy in the world, shatter his knee and he'll drop like a stone."
Friends help you move. Real friends help you move bodies.

i will go with the small urban setting.in these out of the way places it is a close neighbor that is gonna rob you to get some crack.saves all that time looking through mugshot books trying to identify a stranger.jfeaz wrote:this inspires me to start a new thread: which is better, the urban/suburban life or the small town/rural life?SuperRookie wrote:Nah jfeaz, you're wrong. That is true, but if I was close enough to shatter someones knee and actually do it. I think I would be a good enough martial artist to take away his gun..... Most people would be in agonizing pain and just lie there in pain. I don't know what world you live in, but most never experience a shattered knee.jonnythan wrote:He may drop like a stone, but that won't stop him from shooting you.Meanie wrote: "Take the biggest guy in the world, shatter his knee and he'll drop like a stone."

He was away from the car. He confronted me when I wanted to take a picture and the girl told him some stuff. Oh, the 7-11 was renovating so I managed to park next to the owner's scooter which was next to the large trash bin. It took up the corner of our spot but we fit just fine and gave opening room for the car that was able to park comfortably (slanted type of parking spots) My bike made a slanted 'Y' so the front wheel was paralell to the lines and the back paralell to the trash bin. The car was fighting the slanted lines by being straight in when the spots were requiring cars to turn left so aside from the right peg being on the door (slightly opened and side skirted may have hit heat shield) with the "O Ring" of the car touching my turn signal and pipe so lifting my bike off the side stand and rolling it out would've been a bigger problem. I don't know what they would do if my signal made one long "O Ring" scratch on their car (remember it's leaning on the stand so imagine lifiting it off.) This was one of the stupidest looking parking I've seen.
I admit I felt small all my life, these punks were punks for the whole time I've been old enough to go to jr. high. I did restrain myself because I was in no mood to fight and was prepared to take action if he wanted to continue forcing his way to me.
The ninja star was a decoration that I keep in a tin box along with some chinese symbols of courage and love, more symbolic than offensive purposes.
All I wanted to do was take a picture and tell them what they did wrong. Now that it's tucked away I wanted a picture to remind me of stupid people and their antics.
I would always back away from a fight in the past, which made some of the people I knew lose respect for me. along with this girl I havent seen since Sept. 12. 2001.
sleepy time.

One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

F 'em. Anyone that loses respect for you from backing down from a fight simply has different values and probably aren't adding much 'value' to your life anyway.JCViper528 wrote:

There's a whole 'live to train, train to live' philosophy based on the possibility that perhaps one day you may be in a 'fight for your life'. Unless that's the case, personally, I don't see any other reason to fight...nor feel bad about not having done so. Although one cannot perforce control the decision-making process of another, it's always worth a shot to attempt to influence their behavior by maintaining your own composure and calm demeanor.
The "wise" will let you be, as will the 'punk at heart' d!ckhe@d showoff who will sneer and pose, bark and storm off. Oh yeah...'he really showed you'. Whatever. You lose nothing by allowing this. I've had someone ranting and raving at me for some nonsense and done not much more than lift an eyebrow and wait. It's not what people say, but what you allow yourself to react to. Unfortunately, of course, there'll always be at least ONE a$$hat missing half a chromosome willing to push the envelope, mistaking your inclination not to lower yourself to their level as cowardice. Why takeANYone's perspective concerning how you conduct yourself?
The way I see it is this: Seeing as how I truly go out of my way to avoid unnecessary physical confrontation, if someone is really willing to push what mostly amounts to non-issues that far with me, hey, I've already provided more than ample opportunity for them to avoid being kicked hard in the knee and/or groin. It's highly probable they must really have been needing that in their life and I'm more than happy to oblige at that point. Hey bro, I didn't know your knee could bend that way...oh...it can't? That's an odd angle bro...
Obviously those people were wrong and are d!cks...don't take it personally...shrug that off and chalk it up to small people with small minds leading inconsequential, infinitesimally small lives. Don't get caught up in seething over it. Not worth it.
