sure those leave emotional scars for a lot of people. my point was more that i think for things like a war movie there is more distance from the time of the event, and the duration of the event is longer which sometimes makes it easier to deal with.

Well Blackhawkdown (for ex) happened in 1993 and movie released 2001 so about 8 years difference. 9/11 happened 2001 and is coming out 5 years after, how much time do you think people need?
Everyone has a photographic memory, some just don't have any film

i think it depends on the event. for example, saving private ryan was a fictional account based on true events, but it was still very emotional for vets of that era, even fifty some odd years later.

black hawk down(imdb synopsis line): 123 elite U.S. soldiers drop into Somalia to capture two top lieutenants of a renegade warlord

WTC death toll: roughly 2700

the effects of the WTC ripple out to more people than Blackhawk down do...i bet some folks didn't realize it wasn't complete fiction.

for some people there will never be enough time. for me i just find it distateful and won't bother with it. if some people get some kind of closure out of it, great. i bet some FDNY or NYPD and their families will love the movie and there will be some victim's families that will hate it.

Lucky for them, this is still the US, and they don't have to go see it if they don't want to.

It's absurd to condemn a movie because a few people would be upset by watching it.
