Biker Bars

#1 Unread post by Magnum »

What does everyone think about biker bars? The media makes them look like bad places, where outsiders are not tolerated, fights break out, and drugs are sold. I don't think that is the case at all. There is a small bar and grill I like (they make the best half pound burger and the beer is cheap), and at first, I did not even know it was a "biker bar", I just thought it was a bar where bikers liked to go. The bikers keep to themseleves for the most part, but seem friendly.

What is your opinion about biker bars? If you were crusing along, and saw a bar with lots of motorcycles, would you stop and check it out?

Yuppie biker bar or true outlaw biker bar? Big difference. Although the paticipants look the same.....

How can you tell? Are the Harley ones the outlaw bars?

Do you think the outlaw bars are unsafe for newbies, that the newbie is asking for trouble? Hehehe. Somehow, I can't help but think those big, old, white guys are like Santa Clause after the jobs, drinking suds and having a little fun.

Probably shotgun holsters mounted on the Harleys might be a clue, and a machete slung on the handlebars. Outlaws also seldom pass the smell test--yuppies smell of $60 a bottle cologne, outlaws smell of 60 days on the road without a shower....If the restaurant has a dumpster out back that has "kitchen grease" painted on the side, and the napkins are previously used paper towels, it's probably an outlaw bar. :)
The media is right. Biker bars are hell holes and anybody hanging out in one will suffer an eternity of hellfire and damnation. Stick with Dairy Queen and Burger King... :)

i kinda assumed the harleys would be at the yuppie bars? thats what i always see, 50 guys/ladys standing outside with enough chrome to block out the sun, and fresh leathers along side prada bags.

i honestly dont see the point of going to a certain place just because your on a bike, once you go inside that doesnt matter anymore. everyone tells me 'go to 'this place' its a great biker bar, their food sucks and its expensive but everyone with a bike goes there'. havent found a reason to go.

i like to going to a non biker style place that has the type of food/drink(although i dont ever drink when riding) and pulling up to park on the sidewalk right in front of the place annoying people with my loud bike and super front row parking. but thats just me.

I'd kind of like to go somewhere where I can have a verbal discussion about motorcycling with people who actually understand it. Too bad there aren't any "moderate" biker bars. Too bad I'm not old enough to be let in anyway  .

I'll take a good restaurant over a bar any time--shouldn't mix drinking and riding anyway.

Last summer my friends and I started making a point of going to "upscale" restaurants on the bikes. We'd pull up amid much revving and if we could arrange it back firing. Make as much noise as possible and ramble through the door. 8 of us, 4 guys, 4 girls. Full leathers, and a hell of a lot of stares.

Lots of fun, I'm looking forward to doing it again this summer.
Gotta find me a biker babe though.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Amen oldnslo. I don't drink myself, but if I did, I wouldn't on my bike. Not that I have any moral problem with drinking... I don't. I'm not even a religious person - used to drink a fair amount myself and most of my friends still do, I was just somehow lucky enough to lose the taste for it naturally. It's saved me a lot of money and who knows what else! But I wouldn't mind stopping in a tavern somewhere and talking motorcycles while I sip my coke. As long as they allow smoking... yes, I am a dirty smoker.
