Changed my spark plug thismorning and went out for a test run, about 2ks into the ride it was getting hard to change gears, when I stopped it was hard to get it into neutral. I checked the oil level and it was fine [dry sump] so I took of home really 'clicking' into gear but once shes in gear its fine.Had to force the gears down into first at the traffic lights, and really had to' burn 'the clutch to get going. I ride it every day to work and noticed nothing during the week I dont think the spark plug should have anything to do with it Im lost for ideas My bike is a 96 yamaha xtz660 tenere and a workshop manual is nowhere to be found so I am not sure how to pin point the problem cold it be as simple as adjusting the clutch cable Any help would be appreciated
Cheers Corey

Hi Corey,
Could be one of any number of things, but it doesn't sound as if any of them are related to the plug. Just a question, have you over filled the oil? I have heard of issues like this when someone way over filled the oil.
Have you tried adjusting the clutch cable? Is the clutch hard to pull in? Is there excessive play on the lever?
With the bike turned off, is it easy to snick the bike into gear? If so, then the gearbox should at least be ok (hopefully). Once you have got the bike moving, can you change through the gears without using the clutch without any problems? You can do this without too much problem if you clost the throttle and are gentle about it. It should be easier to change up than down.
If you can do this, this points towards a clutch issue, either adjustment or worn plates. If you can't, you may have issues with the box.
Good luck either way!
