got a mate who has a vf1000.had it three years and only had it running for a few months.shortly after he bought it,the engine blew.so he gets another engine.all looks good, starts like a dream but as soon as he revs above one and a half thou it cuts out.engine was guaranteed good.only other change was a new exhaust.from a four/two/four to a four in to one.could it need rejetting?wouyld it cause this much trouble?.stood in his garage for a couple of years now.think hes about ready to give up.xjrjohn

well that's a tough one. But the problem doesn't sound mechanical ... sounds like it's more Fuel or Spark related. Did he put new electrical components on when he swapped the engine?

dont think so,sure he said he put new plugs in but thats about it,engine was a straight swop.he got carbs with the new motor and hes tried the original carbs and the new ones with no luck.he dosnt explain things very well and im just repeating what hes said,i will try and get to see the bike and get a better idea of whats happening.xjrjohn

If he's tried both banks of carbs and it's doing the same thing, it's most likely going to be electrical. Time to get out the old Multimeter!
