Your bike likely calls for 10w40, so you should stick with that unless you experience 100+ degree heat where you ride. Heavier oils don't flow as easily and rob you of fuel mileage and horsepower.
thanks . I need to do an oil change (guy hasnt done it since fall of last year and I just hit 16k miles which the manual says to do an oil change at this time). I figure since I dont know the history better safe than sorry .
