H-D gearbox's are clunky, but you must be kind to them & not change down to soon.Nalian wrote:Does the gear shift ever quiet down or is it always a loud bang? It doesn't bother me - but I just wanted to make sure it was normal. I know a lot of other bikes don't make that kind of noise.
From Top gear I change down to 3rd & then before I change down any more I wait until I am almost stationary then I go 2nd & just before I stop I plop it into 1st.
Another gizmo which is the 'GO' is one of these: http://www.haydensm6.com/m6_bt6595.htm
Reduces primary chain lash & makes your gear changes smoother.
Cheers, AL.
