Having Trouble Idling

#1 Unread post by Mr_Salad »

When I start up my bike, I need to use full choke, where I used to be able to just use half choke. It usually takes about 15 min to warm up the bike. Then I can turn off the choke and have it not die. Could this be a carb mixture problem?

When I use full choke, the Tach keeps on climbing, so I can't just let it warm up. And if I use half choke, the bike dies after about 5 sec if I don't continuously rev it. What can I do to fix this problem?

Had the same problem and checked my filter and plugs it was ok so all I did was to adjust the choke cable and it works fine now. It never took me 15 minutes to warn up even with the choke out of adjustment.

Had a friend some years back with similar problem and it ended up a little more then a carb fix he had to get into his engine for a fix I hope that you don’t have to go there. It might be shop time?

Didn't your bike go down recently? maybe it knocked something off kilter? On my 20 year old bike I use full choke but only for about 2-3 minutes then it idles fine. If I don't use choke on a cold start, the bike will run for about 10-30 seconds and die out on me.
