I think you should wear something besides just a t-shirt when you post a picture of yourself on the internet. Thanks for cropping it though... shudder, I almost had to gouge out my eyes. And I need those to see!!!

Where is your sword/gun/guitar? I thought those were in the background of all your pics?
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

they're on my right side from that pic... not the real sword though. i keep it on display down at our living room. the ones i keep up here are just the wooden ones.

and hehe... i didn't crop anything. that's just how the picture came out. i took your advice and set it to timer.

so i just went to my usual training grounds but then on the rest area, there were a bunch of sportbikes lined up.

so i decided to mingle w/ them since im desperate to find riding buddies today. they were pretty cool guys. very nice poeple and funny people.

they asked if i wanna join them... i said sure. :D

so we left the rest stop. i opted to stay behind since i dunno their skill level. after the 1st few turns, i slowly moved up and passed one by one as i figured im faster than the guy im following. ended up being 3rd in the position... we were around 8 riders.

the ride was very fun, they took me to some canyons i have never been to before.

it was not perfect... there was a big accident, not from our group. 2 riders and 1 car... dunno the details yet but they are investigating is and barricaded the path. 1 rider was killed and the other in critical condition. it's sad.

i also had a bad turn... i was riding feeling the fast pace but then on 1 part... the whole lane was covered in sand... i got scared avoided and went into the other lane since nobody was there. i got lucky and i thanked the lord.

anyway... on the way back, im feeling it more and i was able to move up to 2nd since i was always on the 2nd riders tail, he let me go ahead... our leader though is just way too fast for me. he's a cool leader, very experienced and good leading skills. points out all the hazards and he waits for every rider on major direction changes.

im so happy... they complimented me a lot, even our leader, they said im pretty good and fast. also, they were so surprised when they found i just started riding this year. im just smiling but deep inside im very very happy. :D

sucks that i didn't bring my camera, we encountered some very good scenery.

my confidence level just went up. now i still would have had fun even if im the last... like i said, it's not about who gets there 1st, it's about the ride to get there. BUT im glad that i feel im a certified canyon carver now.

we talked to the guy blocking the accident/investigation scene but the investigation was still ongoing.

but here's the tragic accident details from another forum.

About 14 of my club got together today to ride all over hell's half-acre (Just about all roads with names ending in "Canyon Rd" from Simi Valley to Leona Valley). We came across Chiquito Canyon and followed our way over to Lake Hughes rd, up by the 5 frwy and Castaic lake. We start up Lake Hughes above Castaic at a "moderate" pace :notooth . If any of you know the bottom section, you know the capable speeds. Not soon after the fast sections you start getting a little twistier. We came around a right hander and there in front of us were at least 3 or 4 CHP, 2 Ambulance, Multiple Emergency vehicles with lights flashing and the Life-Flight chopper sitting very snuggly on the adjacent turn out. Everything comes to a halt.

We see a pretty badly damaged toyota or nissan subcompact straddling the doubles, facing away from us. Its obvious the front end is caved in. Emergency vehicle block our view but we get off our bikes to examine whats going on. A few of us get close enough to ask a CHP......

"What Happened?" We ask

"A car coming the opposite direction lost control in that turn over there and swerved back and forth at excessive speed. It appears the oncoming motorcyclists could do nothing" - He says.

He is also visibly disturbed and distraught. We glance over at another Motorcop who apparently lost his lunch. "How bad could it be" I thought to myself

It was bad....real bad.

A Harley and a Ducati S4R (White/Red) were taken out like bowling pins by this jack- A$$ . Both bikes were pretty f'ed up and sadly one body lay on the ground, covered with sheet. Another is whats now flying above our head in LifeFlight in critical condition. Apparently the Harley rider passed and the Duc rider is critical. It was just a horrific mess and a reminder that no matter what we do, there are always things we cant control or avoid in this sport. The skidmarks from the bikes were not super long. I want to assume they were both not going excessively fast, but in that section its hard not to and I won't speculate.

There were many on the scene physically distraught. One gentleman was crying a lot. Apparently the passed rider was his father in law

Anyhow, just take it easy out there and keep the peeps open to crazy like this car driver. For fear of being called "racist" or some other dumb, unnecessary term just because, I'll refrain from describing the car driver's ethnic background...but I will say "Unlicensed" and "Uninsured" were overheard in the CHP interview

very sad indeed...

last week, a guy got airlifted from an accident scene on a diff canyon that i went. it was his fault though unlike this one. but no matter whose fault it is... it's still very sad and i feel sorry for them.
