When I used to live in the 'burbs we used an "Invisible fence" which worked like a charm. It's a wire you bury around the perimeter of your yard, and the dogs wear a collar that shocks them if it gets too close tot he wire. The collar made a beeping noise in proximity to the wire before it gave a shock, so the dogs would know not to go any further !The added benefit was that soon enough the dogs heed the boundaries of the yard even without the collar.

And yep, they are close together but just about everyone has a chain link fence 'cept me. I've got a nice old 6' wooden one

Maaan, when we're getting the bikes out, the dogs go crazy, but they won't go past their magic stopping point. or even better the owners. The trouble with the 'burbs is everyone HAS to get a dog and then "walk" them at night so someone else has to clean up the dodo. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs.....just not owners who don't clean up after them.....and there are alot of them out there.......
