Freeway flyer

A couple of mornings ago, I was sitting on my front porch having an early morning cup of coffee and when the breeze is out of the north I can hear some traffic noise from the freeway. I heard a big sport bike cranking it up on the freeway with the cops in hot pursuit. He was headed west, and the nearest exit in that direction is about five miles. Since the freeway is a semi-circle bypass, I could hear him and the cops for most of the five miles. I wouldn't venture a guess as to how fast he was going, but all indications were that he was at least twice the 65 mph limit. So here is the thing, I had mixed emotions about it, part of me wanted to cheer for the guy, and part of me was pissed because it's guys like him who give bikers a bad rep. Either way, it was exciting just listening to the big sport bike doing it's thing. Hope he made it ok.

Why on earth would you want to cheer someone who is breaking the law and putting hundreds if not thousands of innocent people in harm's way?

Sorry, but in a case like this I don't see how you can have a shred of sympathy or goodwill toward that person. He was blatantly running from the police, endangering others' lives, giving other bikers a bad rep and just plain being stupid.

I don't ever wish someone to get hurt, but he at least deserves to wreck the bike so he can't get on it again.

This is not cinema. You can't possibly cheer for a guy who's endangering people and the police that are there to protect the innocent.

Some people don't separate the two. And that's when things go wrong. Government legislate our free will because people carry over fictitious acts into real life.

if you like big bikes going fast go to a dragstrip. What would motivate you to 'root' for a criminal?

I think there is a little bit of outlaw in each of us, with some it's buried a little deeper than others. I'm just a little more honest with myself than some of you who won't admit to it.
