So uh, what's it do?

Is it a HD video reciever or what? I'm tech savvy in some fields. HDTV is not one of them.

haha its a video/music/picture player. It connects to your network either wirelessly or wired and then from there it will connect to your computer (you have to tell it what folders to look in) and then you can play movies/music videos/mp3's/ or have a picture slide show on your tv with stuff thats on your computer. I think its nice because that means my computer can be in 1 room and tv in another and I dont have to have cables running from my computer to my tv

Yeah, I started to try to find a wire free and space saving PC.

I recently purchased the Logitech Z-5450 http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/produ ... NTID=10928

and was supposed to be wireless in the rear. You still need wires to feed it power... time for me to return it and re-use the old Z-5500: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/produ ... ENTID=9486

Now I can't wait for the format wars bte Blu-Ray and HD DVD to be over as well as less intrusive DRM for future high def content.

Congrats! Thats a great setup. I absolutely LOVE my net-connected entertainment system in my house.

Mine is a cheapo version...I installed car speakers (the $5, 5in from walmart kind) in the ceiling in each room of the house and ran the wires into the office room and out an RCA jack in the wall that can plug into a computer, etc (though the comp audio card cant run all the speakers and I have to run an amp inline...had an old stereo that fit the bill).

There really aren't any good video streams out there for TV-value but...running iTunes on the system is fantastic. Hundreds of free stations, all the music you could want.

Once we get some decent streams for video I think you'll get alot of value out of your setup...unless the big providers have their way and kill bandwidth on anything that isn't proprietary.

hmm, maybe I should find a REALLY long RCA cable so I can connect my stereo to my computer (they are in different rooms). Would be nice to listen to online radio stations on something nicer than the computer speakers.

Well, if you're just running it to a stereo, you should just get a cheap FM transmitter...they all have line-in inputs that could be connected to your computer's line-out port and then transmitted your stereo on the matched station.

I bet that would be cheaper than buying the cable!

the DSM-520 by Dlink I talk about in the first post allows you to stream audio from the net but you have to pay a monthly subscription just like xm radio. Everything I have played on my MediaLounge (dsm-520 is the model of the MediaLounge) is on my computer already downloaded. I think so far my favorite thing to do is sit and either watch a downloaded movie from a couple of those movie places that rent them to you for $3 and to sit and watch all the like 2000 digital pictures of my kids that are on my computer
