Umm.... MM..... we generally try to balance the bikes, not hold them up???!!MonkeyMaw wrote:In the meantime, I am getting the bike road-ready, collecting the necessary gear and joining a gym! It seems I will have to build some muscles before I can command any respect from this beast. My sister has already gotten me GRIP STRENGTHENERS as a gag gift. Oh, the humility.

I'm just kiddin' ya, I'm all for strength training. But I want to point out ladies even more petite than you manage larger, heavier bikes all the time. It's more about finesse and working with the bike's weight than manhandling (womanhandling?) it. You'll learn this, and I'll bet a year from now the Yammie will seem a lot lighter than it does now.

Thanks for the welcome. Yeah, I know it's more about balance than strength, but pushing those 450 lbs around in my driveway made me realize how out of shape I am. Maybe this will be the thing that finally gets me into the gym.jstark47 wrote:Umm.... I've read a few ladies talking about how much they use their core muscles when riding their bikes. Maybe riding will be a workout in itself. Gawd, I hope so...I'd rather ride than do crunches any day!

Congratulations! Just keep reminding yourself that theres a bike at the end of the tunnel once you finish up the classroom hours
I didn't take the Riders Edge course myself, but took one very similar, the BRC from MSF and I couldn't have made a better choice for myself (choosing to take a riding course and listening to what the instructors had to say). It added to the enjoyment of motorcycling in my opinion.
Have fun!
