the previous owner said he spent a few hundred bucks to have a shop replace the grips, windshield, levers, gauge face plates. not including parts. to me thats insane. on top of that, the shop claimd to have thrown away the stock parts before he showed up. so he didnt get to keep them even.

Bad shop! I have very poor manners around bottom-feeders like that. Learn a bit about your bike, and you'll save your pennies, as well as develop an air of confidence that will put the bottom feeders in a state of un-ease, and they'll tend to be a bit more honest with you about what's really going on with your bike, because they suspect you already know.

i had an issue with a shop i took my car to, i knew exactly what was wrong, was a bad spark plug i knew it was 1 in the back just not exactly which one. i took it to a shop and asked them to replace it for me. they said they had to run diagnostics on it that would cost 50$ before they would touch it... i was in a bind and needed it done so i went ahead and let them also i was curious as i just bought the car if it did need other more in depth work. they came back 2 hours later saying i needed about 2500$ worth of work(more than i paid for the car). which involved a radiator hose(which i replaced an hour after the shop visit for about 10$), oil change(did that a week later for under 20$), and a fuel filter which i havent bothered to touch, and replace my One spark plug. all that work for a low bargin bin price of 2500$ lol when i refused all the work and added i just wanted my plug done, they said 'oh we already took care of that for you' i just rolled my eyes and paid the 50$.

i had my bikes oil done i was told it would be 29$ i figured thats not too bad just get it done and not worry bout it. ended up getting a bill for like 60$ they added on oil, filter, techs time, some kind of washer. dont tell me its one price then show this bill for double

Grips are easy to change. You can use water and a little bit of soap like Toyuzu, contact cleaner, spraypaint, even WD-40 will work. I like grip glue myself, but I've lost grips before. It hurts..... But that was also dirtbikes and you yank on the bars a whole lot more on one of themthose than on a streetbike. The glue is sold in small packets of a few ML, just enough to do 2 grips.... ask the guy who sells you the grips if they have it. They might keep it behind the counter.

I haven't priced a throttle tube for a streetbike, but I change the one on my dirtbike every spring, when I install new bars and grips. A stock CR throttle tube costs $10 here. It is amazing how much smoother it can make your throttle feel. I should look into picking one up for my bike, I hate the grips, so plan on changeing them soon anyway.
