I'll have to play it by ear and see whats up as the weekend approaches. I may be able to do a day ride but I don't know about camping. I'll have to see if I can work something out for someone taking the kids. We have a wedding next weekend and already have a couple folks taking them each night. May be hard to work 2 weekends in a row.
A dog had his chain reduced one link at a time, every few days, until his chain was so short he could barely move. He never resisted because he was conditioned to the loss of his freedom slowly, over time. Are we in this country becoming like the dog?

So apples, camping, and the Triple Nickel? If Scan and I were able to find a tent... otherwise, we might have to find a cabin or something in the area. But it looks pretty close to the Triple Nickel.

Cheers,

We are starting to make the serious part of our plans (triple nickle trip), but cannot fully proceed without clearing a few ideas. First idea - when were we going to actually do the group ride on 555? We're trying to work out that both Loonette and I can go, but we have cost restrictions and time restrictions. In the end I may end up going on my own.

Also, where is everyone staying (of those who figured that out yet)? I've looked into some stuff around the area, but just want to see what anyone else has found out/worked out.

Well, like I mentioned over the weekend, my family is getting together at my uncle's house in Oak Hill for the Apple Fest. I have an open invite and my family accepts anyone and everyone that someone brings, so we can crash there for sure. Accomodations fall short of a Four Seasons Resort, but there will be a roaring fire and shelter if need-be. As for which day on the Nickel, that's really up to you. It's not far from my uncle's and could easily be ridden any or all of the three days. So, as usual, I'm pretty flexible. If anyone needs a tent or sleeping bags and so forth, fire off a PM and I'll acquire the necessary gear. My family has more tents than people, and I know my dad even has one that hasn't been opened yet. If you're feeling really social (or adequately buzzed), you can crash in my uncle's cabin with everyone else and listen to their two huge dogs pace the halls all night (I slept in my truck last time :) ).

Should this topic be brought up in the general forum somewhere? Just in case everyone doesn't the Ohio thread.

You're always invited, and we're sorry you can't make it. Who do you work for if you don't mind me asking?

I still don't fully know what I'm doing, but it looks like I will be riding and Loonette will not. Since it is just me I'm leaning towards the free lodging option Zoot was offering. Are you going there on Friday Zoo? Are you staying until Sunday? Did you say you were taking the cage down and towing the bike? Holiday - did you find a place to stay? I'm just weighing the sleeping options and if I had an indoor option I might consider that too. I did find a place in a state park nearby that had "camp rental" - which is basically a walk-in tent, a stove, a fire place, power plug, and a toilet nearby + a cot and bed roll for $30 a night. Looks like one of those things will hold 4 people.

I'm game for whatever. I may be trailering the bike because my aunt might ask me to haul her ATV down there again, so I'll have no other choice.

As for camping, if the thought of roughing it with my redneck family worries you that much ( :D ) there is supposedly some good camping along the Triple-Nickel itself.
