Motor is off and bike is in first gear. Should the bike roll as if in nuetral when the clutch is pulled. If it should, mine don't. If the motor is running and the bike is in gear it will roll free with the clutch pulled. Ok or a problem? Thanks.

Take the MSF course. That being said
the clutch disconnects the drive train so you can shift. If the clutch is pulled in you should not move. If you are in neutral the drive train is disconnected, you should not move.
If you are in gear and the clutch is released you are either moving forward, or stalled. You'll have to figure out the difference for yourself.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Sev, I did take the MSF. You didn't understand and /or answer my question. When the motor is off and the bike is parked in my garage in first gear, should I be able to roll it forward by pulling in the clutch and leaving it in gear? I have to shift it to nuetral to roll it forward or backwards. Is this normal?
P.S. After reading my first post again, it was not too clear. Hopefully this on makes more sense.

if its in gear with motor off you should be able to pull the clutch and roll it back/forwards no problem. try holding the clutch in all the way and rolling it backwards first before going forward, ive been on a bike that would not roll forwads untill you gave it a good bump backwards first.

I thought it should and did, but mine don't now. If the bike is running it will roll in gear with the clutch pulled, but not with the motor off. Tried rocking it and it still locks just like as if the clutch is engaged. I tried adjusting the clutch cable and still nothing. Have any suggestions? Don't sound like a good thing. Kinda makes me think if the motor dies while ridding the wheels will lock. It is under warranty, so I guess I'll call Yamaha tomorrow.

When riding the bike, do you find the clutch bite point is very close to the bar?
sounds like you are able to pull the clutch in enough for a gear change, but not enough to fully disengage the engine. Try altering the bite point, by using the adjuster on the clutch lever

Does the bike push alright in neutral, whilst completely cold? your brake pads might be sticking slightly, when cold, but after a recent ride, they would have released, and the bike would roll fine, until the system cools down again

Yes the bike rolls fine in nuetral, hot or cold. I called the Yamaha dealer and explained it to him. He said it does not sound like there is any problem as long as the bike is shifting right and rolls freely in nuetral, which it does. Guess I'll just leave it as I will be needing my 600 Mile service shortly anyways. I'll have them look at it then just to be sure.
obviously theres a problem if you cant pull the clutch and roll the bike lol. how can they say thats not a problem? what if your at a stop light and the bike dies and wont start and you need to move it? or you run out of gas etc.. plenty of reasons to need to roll a bike with the motor off.
