Around here the sidewalks are being taken over by double parked taxis and stupid joggers.

IN my home town, if you ride a bike on the sidewalk you get a ticket.

I wish they would ticket sidewalk riders around here. Over the years i've had 2 of them hit my cage as I pulled out of parking lots. I can check for slow moving pedestrians before pulling out, but obstructions (trees, fences, power poles) make it impossible to anticipate a bicycle moving down the sidewalk at 20 mph.

seeing them go flying across your hood must be kinda funny though....

although dents suck...

That's exactly it. It's pretty funny to see them go by the windshield with that silly look on their face, but then I've got to explain to them that, no, I don't owe them a new bike, they owe me a new fender. I've always had to call the cops to explain the law, then ticket them. Right up until the cop tells them where they stand, they will insist that riding on the sidewalk is legal and that they have the right of way. Confusing the fact that sidewalk traffic does have the right of way, but it must be legal pedestrian traffic.

On my last truck, I had the same fender replaced twice, thanks to sidewalk riders.

Hmm..that's strange.

Around here you see bicyclists riding on side walks all the time. On and off campus.

I wouldn't want to ride my bicycle in traffic. Don't think I could pedal fast enough as there's no such thing as a bike lane on most of our streets.

No you, as Americans, riding on the RIGHT are on the wrong side of the road. We are on the LEFT side which is the RIGHT side.

all depends on your localk by laws. I know in the city where I live you are able to ride on sidewalks only in certain areas (The higher traffic flow spots) other areas you will be ticketed if the police officer is in a bad mood and has time and is bored I suppose...
