2005 650 Silverado here. I commute daily (weather permitting) 45 miles each way on the interstate. Depending on traffic, wind, my mood, the song on the mp3 player, I run anywhere between 70 and 80. I've not had so much as a sputter (knock wood) or a problem.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the Star, I'll be very pleased if it will run 70 mph all day for me, I have the saddlebags and shield installed and I'm looking forward to getting on the road. Cheers !! XS

My last bike was an '06 vstar classic. I had a 60km commute to work on the freeway. Although it did vibrate a lot(felt a little scary compared to the sv), it was able to hold those speeds... problem I had was that once you're at highway speed, getting it to take off to pass or to avoid a mentally challenged cager wasn't easy. It doesn't have much pull at those rpm's, and I found myself looking for a 6th gear.

just a note on km to miles conversion
1 km = 0.6215 miles
1 mile = 1.609 km

175 km/hr = 108 miles/hr

I ride an 05 V-star 1100, mostly 2-up and no problems with highway speed all day long. The V-star doesn't seem to care, actually i think it prefers it..
