So, is your bike currently redlining at 189 mph, and if so, what gear?

BTW - You'll have to excuse the group. We're not used to someone with such vast experience asking such basic questions.

 flynrider ,, Well i havent red lined it yet, but that fastest i took it was 164, if there was more road available i could have gone higher, it went from country to city really fast so i had to ride the break for a while,, when i did this there was no one around and a long straight away but i guess not long enough

One should note that what your speedometer says (over about 30mph) and what your actual speed is are often two entirely different things. Motorcycles are extremely lacking the aerodynamics world - which is why breaking 200mph takes such stupid power on such light vehicles. Drag is the most serious issue at hand, and as it can not be realistically reduced to the point of mattering much - one must turn to a combination of gearing and power.

Having actually driven a vehicle at a true (laser verified) 192mph, I can assure you that life above a true 160mph is insane - and as the needle (or LCD) rises higher, so too does the insanity at an exponential rate. You eat up some serious pavement at 192, and need to be ready to stop/turn yesterday.

I can't even conceive of traveling at 192 mph on land. I try to reconcile the fact that everytime you blink you're 281 feet further than you were before and my mind boggles.

Sorry to interrupt, carry-on!
