he said it's $85/hr laborCNF2002 wrote:Wow thats one expensive shock. Whats the breakdown in retail parts and labor? $3200 for a shock? Crazy
tax he said is 7.77% or let's just say 8%
he said he'll do it for 1 hr labor charge.
i think the shocks alone is $1200 or something. it's the most expensive part and the one i need the most. like i said... i don't need a super front setup just yet. i'll be ok w/ the mid one since i can always add the cartridge kit later when i get better and become more aggressive.

got in touch w/ the 1st guy i called.
i like what i heard...
$1700 w/ labor already.
GP suspension kit: re-valving, re-spring, piston kit, and even a cartridge mod.
and of course, a triple adjustable penske shock.
it will take 1-2 weeks though for the parts to come to his shop after he gets my deposit and he will require 2 days to put it on since he said he doesn't wanna rush it and he wants to make sure it's perfect.
anyway... by wednesday, i should already know if i can make it to the 10/2 trackday @WSIR. but even then... i'll stay at my comfort level for that day.

i posted a topic on a local forum but no luck finding somebody i can hitch a ride with.
my buddy mark also says he can't go to the tracks this monday.
looks like i won't be going on the 10/2 trackday.
oh well... time to look for other schedules i can go.

hmmm...
ok... now im thinking... more. maybe i should spend the money on something else.
i just called rpm cycles for a price on a trailer in a bag. they said it's $1399 for the single trailer.
if i ever buy my own trailer, i have to get this trailer since i don't have space to store a full size trailer.

Sounds like it's time for the 30-day rule:
1. Put the cash in a savings account.
2. Make a list of the things you want.
3. Wait 30 days.
4. Check your list and get the thing that you still want.
This way you'll get some perspective on how best to spend the money. You might be surprised.
This is a good thing to do when you're considering any purchase over $250(ish), and will save the buyer's remorse later.

i want my bike to handle better.Nalian wrote:That money burnin a hole in your pocket already? If I were as conflicted as you about where to spend it, I'd hang on to it until I figured out which I wanted more, which usually becomes apparent through other activities.
i also want trackdays... it seems it's so annoying on having to depend on others for transpo to the tracks. thus my own trailer.
i can't make full use of the suspension upgrade if i can't go the tracks.
if i get the trailer, i can go to the tracks, but i just have to deal w/ the stock suspension.
so basically... i can only choose one and sacrifice the other.

no not really... i have GAP insurance. and although higher than before, im ok w/ my monthly on the bike.NorthernPete wrote:could allways put a nice chunk into your Motorcycle loan...
GAP was useless before since i made huge down payment.
i didn't make a very huge downpayment on my current a bike. i also didn't buy extended warranty since i also lost money on that before. but, i made sure to buy GAP insurance.
