Nope it does not. Kinda takes the fun out of going through the detectors. Maybe next time slide through the Xray machine that does the carry-on bags :D
I had a cousin with one leg shorter than the other by maybe an inch (don't remember). Anyway this was like 15 years ago when he had his hip replaced with a metal one (again I don't remember the material - too young). Anyway, he was a given a card to carry in his wallet explaining his metal hip should he ever be stopped at an airport. So presumably if you got close enough to an airport scanner, it could set it off.

As for horror stories, there was this one time I sliced the end of my finger open with a razor knife. Saw the bone then I started to ooze out of my chair. It's been a few years ago, but every now and then it still itches inside the finger; have to flick it or pound on it to "scratch" it.

What a coincidence, I'm in chem too, and I just happen to hate it too! (Ironically enough I am an intern to a chemist in a factory lab... lol) Good luck with it!

PS As for hardware, nothing, haven't been in a bike accident YET but have been through some pretty good other crashes (mountain bikes and such)...

Anyone care to explain chemical nomenclature of compounds or abstract molarity?

George: Shut up Lenny, you're too stupid for a dog.
Lenny: At least I'm not an @ssoff.
