I've always named my transportation, if mostly due to superstition.
Named the bike Charon (pronounced more like the girls name in my case), although naming a bike after a mythical fairyman to the underworld might seem counterintuitive, I like a slight reminder of my mortallity before I go for a ride.

I named mine Miranda. For a while I was flipping back and forth between Miranda and Wynona.
Name the two tv shows (actually one is from a movie that took place after the show, and I guess the other one was from a show that had a made-for-tv movie) that I got them from!
Give you a hint, I'm a bit of a nerd.

Back in the olden days I had a XL250 I named Shasta. She was with me for many years and was highly modified. Actually, one engine and three rolling frames for different purposes. Swapping the engine from one frame to another only took about 15 minutes.
Anyway, when girls would invite me to, hmmm, interact, I often said, "Sorry, working on the bike. She has to have (insert work to be done here). "She has to" contracted to Shasta, and she was talked about like a girl who just stole a boyfriend. Most of the girls called her "B!+c#" or "S|u+."
Once upon a time, Granma tried to convince me to let my children have a dog, and she provided one. I shut the mutt in the utility room overnight, and it ate the lanoleum floor. When I saw the damage in the morning, I called her to come get that d--n dog, and the name stuck. The kids called the dog DD for the next 13 years. What does that have to do with bikes?
Nothing.
